Your last picture

I was looking through your ipad photos and came across of your last selfie you took which you were in the hospital.  Just what I wanted to see is you smiling.

Even times when you are in pain and sad you still placed a smile on your face and made me smile too because you knew we both don’t like being sad in front of each other.  Honey, I know you were in pain and I wish you didn’t have to leave this world and me as well.  We had plans for 2019 and onto better things.  But we never got to do that.

I’m so glad my last words to you were “I love you very much” and your reply was “That’s what I needed to hear”.

He's finally home.

Its been a couple of months since I last blogged.  Update on Craig's visit in the hospital lasted for 10 weeks altogether.  Turned out that he had to get 3 stents put in around his heart.  He had to get that done in Galway.  He does feel a bit better since it was put in.  He did say he doesn't feel as cold as he was before.  Which I think is a good sign.

It tired me out taking trips back and forth to the hospital.  Brought him food for lunch or dinner as well as fruits because hospital food is the same food every day and it did get boring for him.

I couldn't wait for him to get home, not only because he needed to be home and it was a long time in the hospital but I was getting lonely and depressed.  Its been very quiet in the house during his time in the hospital.

Kidney Failure....not again

Well I had a bit of a scare last weekend.  I had to call ambulance that Thursday because there was something wrong with Robert.  We stayed at Mercy Hospital for about 8 hours and they sent him home.  The next morning he had to go to his doctor and he wasn't himself as he kept passing out.  They gave him some water and he felt a little better, by 1pm his doctor called about the results of his blood work which was taken earlier that day and told him to go straight to the hospital.  We ended up going to the Maine Hospital rather than Mercy Hospital.  His kidneys were definitely failing.  He didn't remember all that Friday and I ended up spending the time at the hospital.

He was calling out my name Saturday morning, of course, I slept over but I slept out in the waiting area.  They had a cot set up for me.  I got up that morning and went into the room and he was kind of up and he started crying wanted to know what happened and why is it happening to him.

I had to explain to him that his kidneys were failing again like they did back in February.  I felt that I had to be with him all that time because he didn't really have anybody.  No family but me and my family.  I did had to go home because it was costing me a fortune staying there with food and such.

It turns out that he was dehydrated and the antibiotics he has been taking was being drawn to his kidneys causing his kidneys to fail.   We ended up staying in the hospital for 5 days.

I have been watching him how much water he takes because he needs the water fluids in his body.  Also making sure that he eats as well.  His foot is still trying to heal slowly.  I am hoping it will heal really soon.  Only time will tell.

Another update on Craig

Present Day:   2/19/20103

Craig is still in hospital.  He is pleased that he is able to eat again.  Poor guy must had been starving all this time.  His metphormine medications was affecting his kidneys which they believe now that could had been the problem of his kidneys not functioning properly.  So they have to find another medication other than metphormine.  He will be so happy to get back home.  His kidneys are much better now; up to 50% in working order.  They think his kidneys will never be 100% because it has been damaged.  Maybe percentage somewhere in the 90s.  Lets just hope that nothing is wrong with his kidneys.

Leaving Intensive Care Unit

Present Day:  2/17/2013

GOOD NEWS! Craig is now sitting in a chair. They took most of the IVs out, took the tube out which was going from his nose to his stomach since there wasn't any blood in his system and is now able to drink clear liquids. They took out his catheter out since is able to pea and poop, which means that his bowels are moving.  His kidneys are doing much better. He should be out of of the Intensive Care Unit today and go into a regular room.  If he keeps getting better like this day after day, I would say he should be home by the end of the week.

I wasn't sure if we were allow to use the laptops in the ICUs but the nurse says it was okay.  I called my mother and asked her to come onto skype so she could be able to talk to my mother and my stepfather.

Another visit to the hospital

Present Day:  2/16/2013

I was at the hospital again all day today.  I brought my laptop again thinking I was going to use it in the cafeteria but never gotten around to the cafeteria.  Craig was very talkative having his humor again this morning but was very tired this afternoon.  He's starting to poop again little bits, which is a really good thing meaning he's bowels are slowly moving.  I think they are running tests on that as well as his pea.  He threw up a couple of times and I saw unprocessed corn bits, so I am assuming that was food he ate (Thursday evening) which was chicken pot pie before going in the hospital was still lying in his system.  Oh and as for the blood in his stomach, they are now saying it is a busted ulcer.  He's still feeling very nauseous.  He had an epidural last night and there was blood in his spine.  I am sure they are working on that too and his kidneys are getting a little better but still not 100 percent quite yet.

I do have to say that I do miss Craig being around in the house.  It does get very lonely in the house especially when you don’t have any friends in the area.

Visit to see Craig in Hospital

Present Day:  2/15/2013

Spend the whole day in ICU, and I am sure he will be in there for awhile. He has been sleeping alot today and at times he came around to it. He is better today than yesterday but still very very sick. He has tube down his nose and a lot of blood came out from his stomach. They are still trying to figure out why he's having problems with his kidneys. He's still very tired and out of it. He is also very dehydrated. Thank god his blood pressure went up because it was very low last night. Before leaving they were going to do that long needle thingy in his back. Its good that he is responding a little bit. I'm still scared and worried.

Trip to hospital

Present Day:  2/14/2013

Well this is the second trip I had to call for the ambulance for Craig.  He was just only after leaving the hospital about a week and a half ago.  The first time around he had to colonoscopy test done.  While he was being under some of the fluids when down the wrong tubes and I guess was burning his lung and turned out to be pneumonia.  So he was in there for a day and a half.  I was relieved when he came out.   I was worried about his tcells.  I was told that his tcells went from 1200 down to 240.  The tcells must had fought a big battle for his pneumonia.

We went to the doctors for my appointment and then went to the grocery store and he wasn’t feeling well then.  In the doctor’s office he was tired.  He has been tired a lot these days.  We never bothered buying groceries, just straight back home.  I had been checking his blood sugars and pressure.  His sugar was okay but his blood pressure was kind of low.  Now it’s another worry and I am getting all these things entering my head.  I told that I was going to call ER and have him go to hospital again.  I then had to help him get dressed.  I was crying when he wasn’t responding to my questions while helping him get dressed.  He kept coming in and out of consciousness.

Every time he inhaled he would hold his breath for a second and then exhale.  I really don’t know what is going on with him.  I know he has poor circulation.  He doesn’t exercise or eat the proper foods.  I guess we’ll have to see what’s up later.

Gull Stones

It was around Spring 2008 and Craig had to go to the hospital to get some gull stones out and it was my first time in the apartment on my own since he was spending time in the hospital until he was better.  I went to visit him and he was pale around the face in the recovery room.  They were having trouble getting his oxygen up to 95 I think it was, so they had to keep him over night.  I was looking forward for him to come home.  Next day he was finally home.  He looked funny with his shaved belly because he is very hairy.
